The Busiest Person in the Room

The busiest person in the room isn't necessarily the most effective.

We've been trained to equate motion with progress, to believe that more hours equals more value. It's a comforting equation because time is easily measurable, while impact often isn't.

When we're unsure if our work matters, we compensate with volume. One more email. Another meeting. Three more hours. As if quantity could eventually transform into quality through sheer persistence.

The challenge isn't working more—it's defining what "more" actually means.

Learning to measure impact rather than activity changes everything. When we get clear on the difference our work makes, we can let go of performative productivity, and focus on contribution instead of motion.
